Comme je n'ai pas beaucoup de temps en ce moment (oui, je travaille – le premier qui se marre, je lui caresse le fondement à coups de tatanes), juste une petite histoire vaguement mise en rimes et pas trop absconse pour une fois (enfin je crois).
Hardly ever
As long as daylight was watching us
As some others
Were keeping on calling on us
Only a little smile
To pledge the evening when we met up
At last at twilight
One hour, only one hour
We would always say
Not more, not until the next day
So we would shiver
Under the cold light of a hall
Open to all weathers
Sometimes my cigarette smoke
Wandered towards her face
She'd slightly wrinkle her nose
While her hands would sway
Telling life, nothing and all
She often gave the first gesture off
The one that implied
Now it's about time
Back into our own walls
And I used to pretend
Not to have seen it
Searching for a sentence
Not to leave the bench
Not too quickly
Once in a while
I would wear her shoes
They fit so right
More than I would
From the very first day
The very true reason why
I had to see her again
And once in a greater while
She climbed up to my room
As my roommate was outdoors
Had gone over the wall
To give herself to
Surely fully manned hands
For some kind of dance
Talking it all through
"Should I say I do?
I wanna go back there
Should I call again?
Two letters I can't bear"
And for sure "Do you know?"
Always ending up "I know"
She finally did what she said
Though in another way
And about what I said
I did not in any way
